WHEREVER LIFE PLANTS YOU

Bloom With Grace

Trauma-informed EMDR & Emotion-Focused Therapy in Sheffield & Online Counselling

My name is Christophe & I have been practicing as a trauma-informed therapist since 2020. I graduated from a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy, and completed three levels of accredited Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) training all through the University of Strathclyde. In 2023 I completed two certified EMDR training programs with the Counselling Academy & EMDR Centre London. Most recently, I have completed a post graduate certificate in Psychological Trauma, The Bump2Baby&Beyond Programme in: Perinatal and Ongoing Parental Mental Health Accredited Professional, and Autism/ADHD awareness training.

I have worked in charity and education services including a sexual violence support service. My therapy journey has brought me to helping people with a wide range of issues, so I'm confident that together I can help you with any of the following: Bereavement, Domestic Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Stress and Anxiety, Depression, Divorce, Relationship issues, Childhood Trauma, Cultural Diversity, Racial Identity. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list so do get in touch to discuss how we can work on getting you to a more emotionally fulfilled place in your life. Whatever it is you need support with I’m committed to helping you bloom with grace, wherever life has planted you.

I have also helped people from a diverse range of backgrounds and upbringings, and I bring a culturally sensitive attitude to our work so that regardless of our differences, you can still expect a high-quality safe and non-judgemental therapeutic connection with me.

In your sessions, you are the expert of your own life. I’m here to walk alongside you, providing a non-judgmental and compassionate environment where you can explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace. I believe that each person has an innate ability to grow and heal, and my role is to help you tap into that strength.

Emotions are at the heart of our experiences, often driving our thoughts and behaviours. Through EFT, we’ll work together to better understand your emotional world, helping you to process and transform painful emotions into ones that can empower you. This can lead to deeper self-awareness and positive change.

Trauma can leave deep, painful imprints, affecting how you feel about yourself and interact with the world. EMDR is a powerful, research-backed method that helps to safely process and heal traumatic memories. Using a structured approach, we’ll work together to reduce the emotional impact of these memories, allowing you to move forward with greater ease and confidence.

My practice is holistic in its approach, meaning that I recognise how the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. This provides us with an opportunity to heal on a deeper level instead of focusing on singular symptoms or diagnosis. We will work to bring awareness to your thoughts and feelings as they are experienced in the moment through a blend of breath-work, guided imagery, mindful practices and nervous system regulating activities. This is a great approach to healing trauma as you're learning how to calm your body and mind though regulating your emotions & nervous system. You will set the stage to allow your brain and body to heal and process stored trauma.

In our work together, my primary focus is to ensure that you feel safe and supported. Healing is a personal journey, and I’m here to create a space where you can explore that journey without fear or pressure. I will help you to better understand who you are, and to identify unhelpful emotions patterns that have you feeling stuck in life. By working through difficult and unprocessed emotions, you will learn to set better boundaries, improve your emotional intelligence, and lead a happier and fuller life.

What Is Trauma-Informed Counselling?

Trauma-informed counselling is a therapeutic approach that recognises how past experiences — especially overwhelming or unsafe ones — can shape how we think, feel, and relate to the world today.

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, trauma-informed therapy is about understanding what has happened to you, not "what's wrong with you." It acknowledges that your responses — whether emotional, physical, or relational — may have developed as survival strategies, and deserve to be met with compassion, not judgment.

With this knowledge, we can avoid many common mistakes therapists and mental health professionals make. Instead, we can make sure you get the most out of your counselling sessions by tailoring them to suit your needs. We can take our time and move at a comfortable pace to support you in getting into contact with your emotions without becoming flooded or too disconnected. For example, trauma-processing does not require us to dive into details of past experiences which often trigger overwhelming emotions.

As your therapist, we will work together to explore the best approach for you.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from traumatic or distressing experiences — without needing to talk about them in detail.

Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like tapping or sounds), EMDR supports your brain’s natural ability to reprocess painful memories, so they no longer feel as intense, triggering, or “stuck.” You still remember what happened, but it becomes easier to think about without overwhelming emotion. This compliments the trauma-informed approach because of the focuson helping you learn helpful ways to cope with these painful emotions.

Because EMDR doesn’t rely on retelling your story or analysing every aspect of your past, it’s often experienced as a more trauma-informed and empowering approach — especially for people who find talking about their experiences difficult, exhausting, or unsafe.

EMDR is particularly effective for:

  • PTSD and trauma (both single-event and complex)
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Low self-worth or negative beliefs about yourself
  • Grief and loss
  • Childhood wounds that still affect you today

What is Emotion-focused therapy?

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a gentle, collaborative approach that helps you understand and work with your emotions in a healing way — instead of feeling overwhelmed by them or cut off from them altogether. Infused with trauma-informed care, this is a great approach for tackling core issues on a deeper level

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck — maybe caught in cycles of anxiety, shame, anger, or sadness that don’t seem to shift, even when they try to think differently. EFT helps you get to the root of those emotions, so you can begin to respond to them in new, more compassionate ways.

In our work together, you’ll learn to:

  • Recognise and name what you’re truly feeling
  • Understand where those emotions come from and what they might be trying to tell you
  • Learn the difference between helpful (adaptive) emotions that guide you, and unhelpful (maladaptive) ones that keep you stuck in old pain
  • Access deeper, more healing emotions — like self-compassion, grief, healthy anger, or empowered sadness — that allow old patterns to shift

One of the core principles of EFT is that we can change painful emotion with other, more healing emotions. For example, if you’ve spent years feeling shame or fear in response to conflict, we might help you access healthy anger or assertiveness that says, “I deserved to be treated better.” That new emotional experience can begin to rewrite the old one.

Because EFT is trauma-informed, we always go at your pace. You don’t have to dive into anything before you feel ready. We create a safe, supportive space where your emotions can become sources of insight, connection, and even strength, rather than something to avoid or fear.
